Radio Frequency Microneedling

Versatile technology that stimulates collagen production and treats skin laxity anywhere on the body

What is Radio Frequency Microneedling?

Radio Frequency (RF) microneedling devices use specially insulated needles that deliver high-intensity radio frequency energy into the targeted tissue once the needles have broken through the skin. This gives a uniform warming effect to the deep tissue, which helps to stimulate new collagen fibers to grow, leading to significant improvement in skin quality and texture. RF mircroneedling can treat the following:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles: Smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes, mouth, and forehead.

  • Acne scars: Improves the appearance of acne scars by stimulating collagen production and promoting skin regeneration.

  • Skin laxity: Tightens loose or sagging skin on the face and body, providing a more lifted and youthful appearance.

  • Uneven skin tone: Evens out skin tone and texture, reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and sun damage.

  • Large pores: Minimizes pore size and improves overall skin texture, resulting in smoother and more refined skin.

  • There are many different types of RF Microneedling devices on the market. At Brandish Clinic, you will find the Potenza by Cynosure. What is special about the Potenza device is its ability to treat all skin types using mono-polar and bi-polar energy. This makes the device extremely safe which means the patient receives amazing results with little to no downtime after the procedure.

Another way the Potenza is different from other devices is the versatility of needle tips. Many different topicals can be used in conjunction with RF microneedling devices today however, only 1- 5% of most topically applied medications are typically absorbed by the skin, and the amount that reaches the target depth is frequently insufficient to be effective.

The Fusion Tip is specifically designed to drive topicals into the dermis while simultaneously creating a thermal coagulative event. With this technology, we can diffuse agents such as Botox, Exosomes and Hyaluronic Acid deep into the dermis giving each patient a customized treatment.

    Key benefits:

    – Ability to drive 67% more topicals into the skin than other devices

    – More efficient use of expensive topicals

    – Better patient experience and customized cocktails

RF Microneedling FAQ’s

  • Every patient is different however, we recommend 3 treatments within a 3-month span. After that, maintenance treatments are recommended for optimal results.

  • To start, you and Dr. Brandish will develop an individualized treatment plan to determine if RF Microneedling is the best tool for the desired result.

At the session, topical numbing cream will be applied and will sit on the skin for about an hour before the procedure. We will then clean the skin and proceed with the treatment. Once the machine is calibrated and prepared, the needle tip handpiece is used to go over the desired area of treatment and deliver the radiofrequency (RF) energy to deeper tissues. There may be a sensation of warmth as the RF energy heats these underlying tissue regions where collagen will be stimulated and the procedure should be relatively mild in discomfort.

3 sessions are usually recommended, each 1 month apart to provide the best results.

There is very little downtime with this procedure! Many patients receive treatment and go about their day. There is usually minimal redness or swelling, and the skin should return to normal over the next few hours to a day.

Adherence to Dr. Brandish’s aftercare recommendations will ensure maximum benefit from this procedure.

  • Redness is common right after the treatment up to 2-3 days post-treatment. Swelling and minimal bruising may occur.

What is IPL Photo Facial?

IPL Photo Facial

A cutting-edge solution for sun damage, skin tightening and more

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a system that uses pulses of light waves to treat many skin conditions. Subjecting the skin to these varying wavelengths of light can treat many pigmentation changes such as hyperpigmentation from sun damage or flushing and redness from rosacea.

When IPL pulses of a particular wavelength reach their target pigments (melanin, red or blue pigment in small vessels) it heats and destroys those pigment molecules. As the body heals and cleans up naturally, the skins normal healthy appearance is restored.

IPL can be used for many different treatments such as sun damage or brown spots, flushing, and redness, hand rejuvenation, and skin tightening, because of this versatility in its light wavelength.

  • Lumenis IPL is also a very effective treatment for sun damage and sunspots. As discussed, Lumenis IPL’s light wavelengths can be tuned to target certain color pigments while leaving other tissues unaffected. This allows for the perfect way to target darker spots on the skin. By delivering IPL pulses to the sunspots where concentrations of melanin create dark patches, the melanin can be heated and broken down without disruption to surrounding tissues of normal pigmentation. The skin’s youthfulness is then restored with a more even tone.

  • IPL can also be used to effectively treat both types of birthmarks, pigmentation birthmarks, and vascular birthmarks. The former describes birthmarks due to concentrations of pigmentation that lead to dark patches, and the latter refers to birthmarks that form from abnormal networks of dilated blood vessels. Because Lumenis IPL can use its large light wavelength variety to target many different skin conditions, it offers a great treatment for both birthmark types. Whether it’s tuned to target melanin molecules in pigmentation or the vascular branches that create redness, it can selectively heat and destroy these pigments, even out the skin tone, and reduce the appearance of the marks and patches. The treatments may not be effective for significantly raised birthmarks, but further evaluation with Dr. Brandish may help determine its efficacy.

  • Rosacea is a complex condition that has a very crucial vascular component to it. Vascular abnormalities can lead to a red, “flushed” complexion that can be quite frustrating cosmetically. Luckily, the Lumenis IPL can utilize its variety of light wavelengths to target the many different types of capillaries and blood vessels that contribute to Rosacea-related redness. By delivering pulses deep into the skin, these blood vessels can be selectively heated and removed as the body heals up from the procedure, without causing any harm to the surrounding skin areas and layers. This results in a much more even complexion as the redness subsides. IPL is one of the most effective treatments for rosacea and flushing of the skin.

  • Another great application for Lumenis IPL is skin tightening. With age, the skin’s collagen gets depleted and its integrity can be compromised. Using Lumenis IPL’s customizable wavelengths, the deeper layers of the skin can be targeted. Heating these tissues can help break down compromised collagen and stimulate the production of new collagen, giving the skin a tightened and refreshed look. The collagen-building process in the body is natural and takes time, so results tend to form over several weeks to months like all other collagen-stimulating devices/treatments.

  • IPL is a very effective treatment for the aging skin of the hands. With a multitude of factors such as aging and sun exposure, the skin on the hands can begin to exhibit thinning, wrinkles, and brown pigmented spots. Thanks to the Lumenis IPL’s ability to target certain components of the skin with different wavelengths, each of these things can be selectively treated. IPL pulses can be set to address the pigmentation of brown sunspots and help stimulate collagen production to tighten and reinvigorate the skin’s structure. These pulses heat the corresponding tissues they target, and as healing occurs from this thermal activity the body disposes of the broken-down pigmentation and structurally-compromised molecules in the skin. The hands are then restored to a great, even skin tone, and tightening forms as collagen rebuilds itself in the deeper skin layers.

IPL Photo Facials FAQ’s

  • Results with the Lumenis IPL depend on the treatments being provided. With its variety of treatment applications comes a variety of longevity, but results tend to be long-lasting overall. It’s important to note that the most effective treatment regimens may require multiple sessions over time. Maintenance may be required to preserve long-lasting results.

New collagen production from IPL skin tightening, treatment to the hands and face for pigmentation changes, and other results from IPL procedures can last years if the skin is well cared for thereafter.

  • To start, you and Dr. Brandish will develop an individualized treatment plan to determine if Lumenis IPL is the best tool for the desired result.

At the session, the patient will rest with eye protection to protect from the IPL’s light. The patient’s skin will be cleansed and prepped before a thin layer of cool gel is applied. The IPL handpiece is then placed on the desired treatment area and IPL pulses are initiated as needed. Each treatment is specifically tailored for the skin type, type of pigment, or skin condition. Each pulse produces a mild sensation, but the potential use of cooling gel, numbing topical agent, and the IPL cool tip all contribute to making treatment more comfortable.

Sun exposure should also be limited for a couple of days after treatment and a good sunscreen regimen is always advised to reduce any risk of unwanted pigmentation effects.

  • Side effects with the Lumenis IPL may vary slightly depending on what treatment it’s being used for, but generally, side effects include:

    -Some mild discomfort during treatment

    -Redness and swelling after treatment

-More rarely: changes in skin pigmentation, bruising or blistering

These side effects are generally mild and dissipate within a few hours or days following treatment.

YAG Laser

Fighting vascular conditions with modern laser technology

What is YAG Laser?

YAG Laser is a non-ablative laser that primarily targets unwanted blood vessels and capillaries. YAG lasers emit near-infrared light and can perform in two different settings: pulsed or continuous. Our system, the Lumenis Long Pulsed nd: YAG Laser, delivers long pulses that selectively target the deeper layers of the dermis, and heat these tissues and underlying vascular networks without interfering with the surface of the skin (hence, being “non-ablative”). Targeting unwanted vasculatures with this treatment provides beautiful cosmetic results. These areas can have a wide array of effects on the vasculatures, which make for great cosmetic treatments.

  • One common use for the YAG laser is for the treatment of spider veins. The surfacing of these dilated veins can be seen under the skin as bluish hue and can be cosmetically bothersome.

The YAG laser can penetrate through the deeper layers of the skin and into the unwanted veins. The heat produced by the laser causes coagulation of the blood inside these vessels, therefore triggering the body’s natural cleanup process to occur.  These unwanted vessels are then removed and results can be seen within several days to weeks. Several treatments may be needed depending on multiple factors such as hormones, genetics, age, lifestyle, or severity of the veins, but results should be noticeable after a single treatment in most cases.

YAG laser treatment of existing unwanted veins is a powerful way to restore the youthful appearance of the affected skin areas.

  • YAG laser can also be used to cosmetically treat rosacea and/or facial flushing. In these conditions, superficial blood vessels become more visible under the skin resulting in a red, flushed appearance of the affected area. Similar to YAG laser vein treatment, the YAG laser targets these blood vessels, providing heat and causing them to collapse. As the body begins to heal these areas, the blood vessels degrade and are removed, alleviating the flushed appearance. This helps to restore the skin’s normal pigmentation with less redness and flushing. Multiple treatments may be needed depending on multiple factors such as hormones, genetics, age, and severity of the rosacea.

  • YAG lasers can also be used to treat red or blue birthmarks. Various types of birthmarks are categorized as vascular birthmarks, which tend to appear red or blue in their coloration. Vascular birthmarks are due to abnormalities in vascular arrangements just beneath the skin – quite different from pigmented birthmarks, which tend to appear in shades of brown due to significant build-up of melanin (pigmentation molecules produced by the skin). The vascular birthmarks are treatable by the nd: YAG laser since it can penetrate the deeper skin layers where these vessels exist. As discussed in previous sections of this page, the laser’s ability to heat and destroy these surface blood vessels allows it to treat these red and blue vascular birthmarks in the same way.

YAG FAQ’S:

  • Once the unwanted blood vessels are effectively treated and cleaned up by our natural protective system, those vessels are permanently removed. Blood vessels can reappear elsewhere or in the same locations depending on multiple factors such as hormones, genetics, age, and lifestyle (ie. smoking, alcohol, etc.) and may require maintenance treatments.

  • To start, you and Dr. Brandish will develop an individualized treatment plan to determine if the YAG laser is the best tool for the desired result.

At the session, the patient will rest with eyes protected from the laser, skin prepped and cleaned for treatment. The laser handpiece will be placed against the desired area of treatment and laser pulses will be initiated as needed. The sensation tends to be mild to moderate discomfort, but the potential use of topical anesthetics and the YAG laser’s cooling tip can help cool these areas to make treatment much more comfortable.

Sun exposure should be limited for several days after treatment and skin should be protected with sunscreen to maintain laser results.

  • Side effects with the YAG laser may vary slightly depending on what treatment it’s being used for, but generally, side effects include:

    – Mild to moderate discomfort with laser pulsed during treatment

    – Redness and swelling may occur after treatment

    – More rarely: changes in skin pigmentation, bruising, blistering and risk of infection

These side effects are generally mild and dissipate within a few hours to days following treatment.
