Dermal Fillers
Juvederm Collection of Fillers
Juvederm Ultra Plus
What is Juvederm Ultra Plus?
Juvederm Ultra Plus is one of many products in the Juvederm family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers and has been used effectively for several decades.
Juvederm Ultra Plus consists of a very robust but flexible gel that can help provide a more dramatic improvement for deeper, more severe wrinkles and lines as well as giving volume to the lips or other facial structures with volume depletion.
-
Juvederm Ultra Plus differs from other Juvederm products in its cross-linking of hyaluronic acid (HA) formulation to create a more flexible, longer-lasting product where it’s needed most, such as the dynamic folds of the smile lines and lower face wrinkles. Its formula utilizes a very high percentage of cross-linking (about 11%). This means its HA molecules are more tightly-bound, making it great for deeper, more severe facial wrinkles as well as providing volume and structure to the lips.
-
Deep lines tend to form in certain areas of the face, such as our smile and marionette lines, as our skin loses its flexibility and hydration with age. There are also genetic reasons for lack of volume in the skin that can be corrected with dermal fillers, such as lips, cheeks, and chin. Juvederm Ultra Plus is typically injected deeper into the skin to reduce and soften moderate to severe folds and wrinkles. Deeper injection sites along with a more robust formula make Juvederm Ultra Plus a great agent of change for these deep lines.
It is effectively used on perioral areas (around the mouth and to provide more volume to the lips) as well as other facial areas with deep folds or lack of volume.
Vollure
What is Vollure?
Juvederm Vollure is one of many products in the Juvederm family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers.
Juvederm Vollure consists of a flexible gel with cutting-edge technology that can be used to target laugh lines, marionette lines, and hollowness around the eyes or tear troughs. It creates natural, long-lasting results.
-
Juvederm Vollure differs from other Juvederm products in its cross-linking of hyaluronic acid formulation, providing a uniquely smooth and versatile gel. It is perfect for improving any facial volume depletion, and it can effectively be injected to treat tear troughs, under eye hollowness, smile lines, and lower face wrinkles/folds. It also contains a small amount of lidocaine to dull pain sensitivity at the treatment site, making it a more comfortable experience.
-
As age-related volume loss occurs in the skin, deeper laugh lines, marionette lines, and hollowness around the eye region may form. There can also be genetically-related volume loss around the eyes creating dark circles, wrinkles, and hollowness. Juvederm Vollure’s smooth formula allows for a natural and effective way to correct the volume in these areas with greater ease of injection. It’s truly a versatile filler for lines and finer detail, but also provides great volume.
It’s thus most effective in treating laugh lines, marionette lines, and under-eye hollowness on the face with beautiful, natural results.
Volbella
What is Volbella?
Juvederm Volbella is one of many products in the Juvederm family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers.
Juvederm Volbella consists of a thin, smooth gel that can be used to treat very fine details and lines in more delicate areas like the lips and nearby perioral regions.
-
Juvederm Volbella differs from other Juvederm products in its lower concentration of Hyaluronic acid (HA), which creates less dramatic changes in volume. This is a powerful tool for softening or eliminating superficial lines around the mouth (such as smokers’ lines) where larger volume changes are not needed. By drawing a little less hydration/volume to the injection sites, smaller lines can be filled in more subtly for a natural-looking, smoother appearance. It’s a cross-linked HA formula just like the other fillers, so it holds up phenomenally. It also contains a small amount of lidocaine to dull pain sensitivity at the treatment site, making it a more comfortable experience.
-
As age-related volume loss occurs in the skin, regions with a more delicate skin barrier and increased dynamic movement tend to change first. In these areas, very minute lines can develop that detract from a youthful, smooth appearance. Juvederm Volbella’s ultra-smooth and malleable formula allow for treatment of the finer details and greater ease of injection, making it a great versatile filler for the “little things”.
It’s thus most often used in the delicate lines on the lips and around the mouth (perioral regions).
Voluma
What is Voluma?
Juvederm Volbella is one of many products in the Juvederm family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers.
Juvederm Volbella consists of a thin, smooth gel that can be used to treat very fine details and lines in more delicate areas like the lips and nearby perioral regions.
-
Juvederm Voluma differs from other Juvederm products in its cross-linking of the hyaluronic acid formulation. It’s designed with a very high percentage cross-linking in its hyaluronic acid (HA) formula – the highest of the Juvederm HA gel fillers. This makes it perfect for notable volume increases in areas with a severe volume deficit and a great capacity for a structural lift in the injected area. It also uses lidocaine in its formula to help decrease any sensitivity to the treatment
-
As we age, the midfacial regions (such as the cheek area) tend to lose their volume and the skin tends to droop or sag as its integrity changes. Juvederm Voluma is used to effectively treat sagging skin or significant volume loss in the cheeks or other midface regions. It can even be used for augmenting volume depletion in the chin to create a more beautiful profile and defined jawline.
Restoring the structure of some of these important facial features can be a powerful way to turn back the clock and provide a facelift, without surgery!
Results from filler can last anywhere from 6 months to 5 years.
Restylane Collection of Fillers
Restylane Refyne
What is Restylane Refyne?
Restylane Refyne is one of many products in the Restylane family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers with increased flexibility to treat dynamic facial lines and folds.
Restylane Refyne is an FDA-approved dermal filler for mild-moderate nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It’s fine-tuned for adding volume to soften dynamic laugh lines and/or expression lines.
-
Restylane and Restylane Refyne are both hyaluronic acid fillers in the Restylane product family.
Restylane Refyne contains cross-linked hyaluronic acid which makes it more durable and robust than original Restylane. The increased durability also means longer longevity. Compared to its close sister products, Restylane Defyne and Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne is better formulated for the correction of softer folds and wrinkles around the smile lines and mouth due to its finer particles. Although more flexible than other Restylane fillers, Refyne is still very durable. It is generally injected more superficially than its sister products.
-
With the age-related loss of skin hydration and elasticity, deep lines may form around the corners of the nose and mouth, and these nasolabial folds and/or marionette lines become much more visible.
Restylane Refyne’s 6% cross-linking hyaluronic acid composition makes it a great product to restore volume in facial areas with a lot of movement, such as the smile lines. Restylane Refyne is an extremely flexible filler product, and its soft support offers a very natural-looking solution to finer wrinkles of the nasolabial areas of the face.
Restylane Lyft
What is Restylane Lyft?
Restylane Lyft is one of many products in the Restylane family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. Restylane Lyft is a specialized cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler used to restore volume and smooth moderate-to-deep wrinkles and skin folds. This versatile dermal filler is the first to achieve FDA approval for both hand and facial treatment, which can even be administered in the same appointment.
-
You may have heard of Perlane before – Restylane Lyft is simply the rebranded name for “Perlane” to keep all Restylane products under the same family name. It’s simply the same product with a new name.
-
Restylane and Restylane Lyft are both hyaluronic acid fillers in the Restylane product family. The main difference between the two is how hyaluronic acid (HA) is formulated. The different HA formulations make each product better-suited for different facial treatment areas. Restylane Lyft’s formula consists of gel particles that are larger and more cross-linked than standard Restylane. The higher cross-linked HA in Restylane Lyft allows for a more tightly bound gel, increasing its ability to stay put at the injection site. This improves its durability and attracts more hydration to the area, providing a more natural volume replacement. The larger particles also create more volume, which is great for tackling deeper wrinkles and folds.
Restylane Lyft’s formula also includes a small amount of lidocaine for increased comfort during injection, similar to the other Restylane fillers.
Restylane Defyne
What is Restylane Defyne?
Restylane Defyne is one of many products in the Restylane family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers.
Restylane Defyne is an FDA-approved dermal filler for deep, moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds and marionette lines. In other words, it’s specially formulated for adding volume to significant, deep wrinkles like laugh lines or droopy lower face structures.
-
Restylane and Restylane Defyne are both hyaluronic acid fillers in the Restylane product line.
Restylane Defyne differs from other Restylane products in the cross-linking of its hyaluronic acid formulation. This higher-percentage cross-linking increases the filler’s density which creates a more flexible, longer-lasting solution where it’s needed most – such as the dynamic folds of the smile lines and lower face wrinkles. In short, Restylane Defyne is a sister to Restylane Refyne, but its formula is better suited for deeper, more severe facial wrinkles.
-
With the age-related loss of skin hydration and elasticity, deep lines may form around the corners of the nose and mouth, and these nasolabial folds and/or marionette lines become much more visible, giving the face a more tired and aged appearance.
It is generally injected in the deeper layers of the skin to reduce and soften moderate to severe folds and wrinkles. Restylane Defyne’s structural design not only gives it durability and increased longevity but also great flexibility. This flexibility makes it ideal when injected in facial areas that experience a great deal of movement, such as the smile lines.
Restylane Silk
What is Restylane Silk?
Restylane Silk is one of many products in the Restylane family of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers.
Restylane Silk is an FDA-approved dermal filler for lines and wrinkles around the mouth area. It’s specially designed to treat very fine lines that may occur around the mouth or on the lips.
-
Restylane and Restylane Silk are both hyaluronic acid fillers in the Restylane product family.
Restylane Silk, however, utilizes cutting-edge, small-particle hyaluronic acid which makes it the perfect filling agent for fine lines and delicate wrinkles, such as those found around the mouth and above the lips i.e “smoker lines”. Its hyaluronic acid formula allows for softening these fine lines while providing more durability, volume, and increased longevity.
-
Skin changes with age and the lips are no exception. As a very sensitive area of skin, the lips are very vulnerable to loss of volume, fine line/wrinkle formation, changes in shape, and thinning. Because of the delicacy of these changes, a very fine solution is required to restore youth naturally back to the lips.
Restylane Silk is the perfect tool for treating these fine details. With its small-particle hyaluronic acid, it provides a wonderful fine-tuning capability that can smooth and plump up the lips and areas around the mouth.
Radiesse is a dermal filler that is FDA-approved to treat moderate-to-severe facial volume loss and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, cheekbone, chin, and temples. It’s also great for hand rejuvenation.
Radiesse, unlike hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, is a gel consisting of calcium-based microspheres that provide a more long-term solution through its biostimulation of natural collagen in the skin.
Radiesse
What is Radiesse?
Collagen
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body! It’s a very important structural protein and is thus used all over the body to keep our tissues robust and hold them together. The skin thus relies heavily on collagen to keep its structural integrity, elasticity, and youthfulness.
-
One significant age-related change in our skin over time is a decrease in collagen production. This can be a huge contributor to facial volume loss and loss of skin elasticity, leading to wrinkles and lines, and sagging of the skin.
Radiesse can be injected in areas of more moderate to severe volume loss, which not only provides instant volume increases and smoothing but also stimulates collagen growth in the skin. Its formula is specially constructed to create a “scaffold” of sorts, so your skin can continue to build its collagen naturally.
Sculptra
A powerful, long-lasting filler for deep wrinkles and facial volume loss
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a synthetic biocompatible dermal filler that is FDA-approved to treat significant volume loss due to collagen loss, facial fat loss, and bone loss in areas such as the temples or midface. It can also be used to treat facial asymmetry, or simply treat moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and lines, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
Sculptra is a bio stimulatory dermal filler, stimulating our own collagen production with long-term results. Sculptura’s ability to stimulate collagen formation is gradual and requires several treatments spread over a series of several months for the best natural and long-lasting results.
-

-
Sculptra is a great filler for contouring. There are many reasons for significant facial volume loss, ranging from disease to certain medical drugs or the natural aging process. This can occur through loss of bone, fat, collagen, and skin elasticity. Sculptra is a great tool for replacing lost volume and for restoring the face to its more youthful appearance naturally. Sculptura provides strong structural support through its collagen stimulatory mechanism, gradually increasing skin thickness and volume to facial folds and volume-depleted areas of the face. A series of injections are typically given over several weeks to months, each time re-stimulating more collagen and volume replacement. Its formula uses poly-L-lactic acid which the body uses to create collagen at the injection site, improving wrinkles and folds in the process. The result is a finely-contoured, youthful profile that patients love!
Sculptra FAQ’s
-
According to Sculptra’s website, results can last up to 2 years
-
To start, you and Dr. Brandish will develop an individualized treatment plan to determine if Sculptra is the best tool for the desired result. She is an expert injector with an artistic eye and years of experience using injectable fillers to contour the face and turn back the clock.
Before the treatment, Dr. Brandish uses topical numbing agents to minimize discomfort with the injection of the filler. All dermal fillers contain numbing agents as well to make treatment even more comfortable. Injections are often performed using a specialized technique with a cannula so that minimal bruising is seen after treatment. A device called Accuvein light may also be used to directly visualize the underlying vessels in the tissue around the injection site to further avoid bruising and make treatment safer.
Even with these extra precautions, there may be some mild redness, bruising, or swelling. This may last a few days, but the advanced precautions are taken at Brandish Clinic help make optimal treatments much easier. For the first 48 hours after the procedure be sure to be gentle with the treated areas, and try to minimize your contact with the injection sites.
As with any medical procedure, it’s important to understand that recovery times may vary patient-to-patient, and this is also the reality with cosmetic procedures like Scupltra injections.
-
According to the Sculptra website, the most commonly observed side effects are bruising, redness, and swelling. These are typically quite mild, and they should dissipate within several days depending on the treatment site. Dr. Brandish uses a soft-tipped cannula for the injection of dermal fillers to significantly minimize bruising and downtime and to make the procedure much safer to administer.
Belotero is a unique hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal filler that is FDA-approved to treat fine superficial facial wrinkles and lines.
Unlike some HA-based fillers, Belotero boasts a less dense, more flexible elastic formula that is crafted for fine details and lines in sensitive facial areas like the lips / perioral areas and mild hollowness around the eyes or tear troughs.
Belotero
What is Belotero?
-
As we age, our bodies tend to produce less hyaluronic acid, an important substance for skin volume, hydration, and elasticity.
Belotero can be injected in areas with finer lines and wrinkles that may benefit from a smooth, flexible filler, providing an instantaneous natural-looking smoothness to the skin. It’s also injected in more superficial layers of the skin compared to other fillers like Juvederm, which are injected deeper.
Because of its elasticity and unique smoothness, it’s commonly used for superficial wrinkles and line corrections in areas around the lips, such as smoker’s lines (perioral areas), sensitive under-eye areas, and even areas on the neck and chest if indicated.
Bellafill
Microsphere technology for bothersome facial scars and volume loss
What is Bellafill?
Bellafill is one of the longest-lasting dermal fillers on the market, FDA-approved for the treatment of acne scarring. It’s composed of microspheres that help to continuously induce our collagen-forming cells to lay down collagen over years, not months! These microspheres are designed to resist breaking down and they encourage the production of collagen in the skin for structural integrity, providing a very long-lasting treatment while reducing and smoothening acne scars.
It’s also FDA-approved for the treatment of smile lines, which has been shown to last up to 5 years!
Bellafill FAQ’S
-
Acne and resulting inflammation can cause structural changes to the smoothness of facial skin and can affect virtually all age groups. The scarring not only causes frustrating changes in appearance but it can also be emotionally difficult. For many years dermal fillers and lasers fell short of being an effective acne scar treatment, since their results dissipate over time, providing only a short-term solution.
Then came Bellafill. It can be injected under the scarred areas of the facial skin to work its magic. This product contains two components, bovine collagen, and collagen-inducing microspheres. It’s these microspheres that stay behind once the bovine collagen dissipates. Not only does this formula provide instant correction of the acne scars, but its microbeads also persist for many years to continue facilitating collagen production, maintaining volume, and structural integrity of the skin where scars used to be prominent.
-
Bellafill’s non-degradable formula makes it a sturdy dermal filler that stands the test of time. According to Bellafill’s website, 90% of patients reported being happy with the results at 1 year from the injection but in clinical practice, acne scar treatment results generally tend to last up to 5 years with touch-ups as needed.
Bellafill also reports smile line treatment lasting up to 5 years!
